The HEAR Foundation was originally founded in 1997 as HEAR The Cry Foundation. The original founder, Ralph Mathey, first visited the country of Haiti in 1996. As a result of his trip to Haiti, he knew he could not walk away from the Haitian people and do nothing. He started the foundation with two promary objectives: to aid the extreme poor and to provide children an education.
